Lady Gaga drops suicide act for the Queen

Britain's Queen Elizabeth II (L) meets American singer Lady Gaga (R) following the Royal Variety Performance in Blackpool, England on Monday. AFPThe 'Poker Face' hitmaker has admitted that she wanted to replay a suicide scene before the British Monarch at the UK's Royal Variety Performance on Monday night, but had to change her plans following a stern warning from organisers.

"I wanted to do the suicide scene I did at the MTV Awards but I was told it wouldn't be appropriate. And not only has that been vetoed, but I have had to tone down my act generally," said Gaga.

The act at the awards ceremony in September had the singer stab herself onstage before her fake-blood drenched body was suspended from the ceiling.

The 24-year-old singer might have toned down, but she still managed to stun the audience by playing a piano lifted onto giant stilts with her foot while dangling from a swing and wearing an Elizabethan-style cloak in red leather, Contactmusic reported.

"All of that doesn't matter because I'm a massive fan of the Queen - I was so excited and have even been practising my curtsy. When I first came up with what I was doing, I said, 'Oh my  God, I hope she likes it!'," said Gaga.

Gaga's gig wrapped up the show which featured performances from veteran entertainer Bette Midler, classical singer Katherine Jenkins, teen star Miley Cyrus and Mika
.
The star was then treated to a meeting with the Queen backstage, but when asked what they discussed, Gaga replied, "That is private."
