A team from the Tamil Nadu Crime Branch - Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) arrived in Bangalore and met their counterparts as part of the investigation regarding the explosion on the Bangalore - Guwahati Express at Chennai Central railway station on Thursday.

The team, led by two Superintendents of Police (SP), held several meetings with the railway police and Rapid Action Force officers. The railway police shared video footages of CCTVs installed at the City railway station.

The CB-CID police acted on some tip-offs that the suspects might have boarded the train from Bangalore City railway station, said the police.

S N Siddaramappa, Railway SP, and Abhishek Goyal, DCP (Crime), also shared available information about the incident. The police said that the motive behind the blasts still remained unknown despite coordination with various agencies.

A senior officer described as “baseless and false”the reports claiming that four persons who boarded the coach from the City railway station transported the explosives.

The Tamil Nadu police will stay back in the City for another day to collect further details.
