The website was launched by Information Department Assistant Director Rohini K.
Giving details about the website, DK Superintendent of Police Dr A Subramanyeshwar Rao said that it has a host of features including a Blog, crime related information and services provided by the District Police. “The crime information of the district police (launched by former BP B Dayanand) which was available on http://spdk.blogspot.com, will not be functional henceforth,” he informed.

In fact, the website gives a detailed map of the district and any person can find out the police station jurisdiction with the help of the portal. Apart from the facility to file online complaints, the persons interested may check the status of their complaints, notifications, tenders, contact details of all officers and security tips. It also carries the history of DK police and the names of all the 126 SPs of the district — right from the first SP Col Henkins (October 4, 1860) till the present (126th) SP Dr A S Subramanyeshwar Rao who assumed charge on March 3, 2009.

The ‘crime section’ in the website carries details and photographs of ‘wanted persons,’ ‘missing persons,’ ‘unidentified dead bodies,’ ‘lost or found property,’ ‘crime statistics’ ‘Crime frequently asked questions (FAQs)’ and ‘Important laws.’

The services offered by the website include ‘Foreigners section,’ ‘passport verification,’ ‘job verification,’ ‘arms license and other clearances’ and ‘community policing.’

A message posted on the website by the SP read: “Emphasis will be given to make police more people-friendly. In view of the prevailing situation in the district, we would also take up all possible measures to maintain communal harmony.”

On the occasion, SP Dr A S Rao also launched Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) which will enable the public across the district register complaints by dialing 0824-2424204.

Demonstrating the same, the SP said that the members of the public will get 60 seconds to register their complaint and the complaints will be checked twice daily and the officers concerned would visit the spot to verify the complaint.

Harish Suvarna, the director of SquadM Technologies Private Limited, who developed the software, was also present.
