Over 50 pc land acquired for Ch'nagar industrial park

The State government has completed the acquisition process for 900 acres of the 1,600 acres earmarked for the proposed industrial park in Chamarajnagar and the remaining land would be acquired by the end of the year.

A decision to this effect was taken at a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to discuss the progress in setting up the industrial park in Kallamballi and Badankuppe in Chamarajnagar taluk on Monday.

The government is purchasing the land from farmers through the KIADB at market rate. The government had given its 300 acres of land for the project.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Co-operation Minister H S Mahadeva Prasad, who is the in-charge minister of Chamarajnagar district, said several industries including those involved in agro-processing, coconut processing, textile, general engineering, electrical motors, automobile sector, have evinced interest in setting up their base at the proposed industrial park.

Prasad said a time-bound programme would be chalked out to provide 55 MLD of water from Kabini to the industrial park, besides setting up a 220-KV power station.

An investors’ meet would be held in Chamarajnagar after three months, the minister said.
Siddaramaiah said the plan is to attract an investment of Rs 12,000 crore and generate employment for 25,000 people.

Top officials from the departments of commerce and industries, forest, power, infrastructure, besides representatives of FKCCI attended the meeting.
