Kejriwal paying Rs 82,000 house rent

Former Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal, whose aam aadmi politics catapulted him to a national level leader, is paying more than Rs 82,000 per month as house rent to Delhi government.

Kejriwal was allowed to stay at his Tilak Lane residence, provided by the government till June end. He had sought an extension citing his children’s examinations.

However, four months after the ouster of Congress government in Delhi, former minister Kiran Walia has not vacated the ministerial accommodation provided to her. She owes the house rent of Rs 9.28 lakh. A senior Public Works Department official said that a notice to vacate the government bungalow has already been issued to her but the department has not received any reply.

She is currently occupying House Number 1, Satya Sadan Marg, Chanakyapuri, which was allotted to her when she was the Women and Child Development Minister in the Sheila Dikshit government.
