JOIN USA 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her distant relative at his friend’s home in north-east Delhi’s Khajoori Khas on Sunday night.
The victim was dropped at her home the next evening when the accused’s friend allegedly realised that the girl was being threatened.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Rafi, was arrested on Tuesday night at his home.
The victim’s family was being misled for a long time after the girl’s disappearance as the accused had allegedly helped in searching her and even accompanied her father to the police station earlier to file a missing complaint.
According to the victim’s father, Rafi was a regular visitor to their house.
However, he had been threatening the girl of late to accompany him to his friend’s place which he learnt after she was released.
On Sunday evening, he took her to his friend’s home by issuing threats.
Meanwhile, the victim’s father leant that his daughter was missing.
“Rafi helped me search my daughter in the locality and even went with me to the police station to register an FIR,” he told Deccan Herald.
He returned from the search and raped her before his friend realised that the girl was being confined at his house with threats.
The friend has told police that he was unaware of his designs and knew that the victim was his relative and had arrived at Delhi for some work.
He then insisted that Rafi leave the house with the girl immediately.
On Monday evening, Rafi dropped her to her home with threats that she would face dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone.
But she narrated her entire ordeal to her parents after which a case was registered against Rafi. He was arrested on Tuesday at his home and charged under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Indian Penal Code.
The girl was sent for a medical test which confirmed she was raped. Police are verifying if Rafi had raped the girl in the past too.
