Nagarabhavi park restored

Last Updated 08 May 2014, 21:19 IST

The park at Nagarabhavi 2nd Stage 11th Block, which is the only such park of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) was in a dilapidated condition and a victim of encroachment.

Members of the Nagarabhavi Nagarikara Vedike had said that some people had, on March 27, cut the trees in the park, dug about a quarter area of the park and dumped the construction debris there.

As a result, the one-acre park had not seen visitors since March 27, with the regular strollers too preferring to stay away from the track.

Deccan Herald had carried a report about the condition of the park on May 3, after which, the dug portions were restored, the walking track cleared and other construction debris removed from the green space.

The park has now been restored to its original shape.

Encroached upon

The public park in Nagarabhavi 2nd Stage 11th Block, which was encroached upon by some people making it difficult for regular walkers to use it, has been restored to its original shape.

Activists of the Nagarabhavi Nagarikara Vedike said that the Palike deployed around 10 to 15 workers to clear the encroachment. “We are finally relieved that people can enjoy a walk without any trouble. For more than a month, the park was in a shambles,” they said.

The one-acre green space is visited by hundreds of strollers everyday, according to the Vedike.
