Valuables worth Rs 22 lakh stolen

Thieves struck at the home of a retired ITI employee and fled with ornaments and valuables worth Rs 22 lakh in Kaggadasapura on Saturday night.

According to the police, the burglary occurred at one of the two houses owned by Chikkamuniswamy, who stays with 14 members of his family, including his wife, children and daughter-in-laws.

The family members, who had gone to Chikkatirupathi and returned at 10 pm, had kept the ornaments and valuables in one of the two houses where they had dinner. After they went to the other house to sleep, police said, the thieves gained entry into the house using a fake key and made away with the valuables. The incident came to light on Sunday morning, added the police.
