Dark convective clouds overcast the sky in state capital Shimla, which was lashed by heavy showers in the evening.

The visibility was reduced to a few metres and vehicles had to move at a snail’s pace with headlights on even during the day. People were forced to rush indoors and put on woollen clothes. Dalhousie and Manali received 14 mm of rains, followed by Dharamsala with 6 mm and Kangra, 2 mm.

The local MeT office has predicted thunder squall and hailstorm at many places during the next 48 hours due to western disturbances.

Jaipur

In Jaipur, a high-speed squall accompanied by thundershowers disrupted normal life in the Pink City and its adjoining areas. Traffic snarls were reported in several areas in the city which received 2.4 mm of rains, officials and the weather office said.

Mercury dipped by several notches at most places in the state due to upper air cyclonic clouds over north-west parts of the state.
