Rudolph Baranowska, staying in RMV II Extension, was allegedly cheated by Devaraj and his associates Vinod and Sunanda Reddy, to whom he allegedly paid the money.

In a complaint to the police, he said that on August 28 last, the accused had offered to help him after overhearing his conversation with his father at Barton Centre on M G Road.

Devaraj had claimed to have “overreaching influence” both in the college and at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. The accused demanded Rs 10 lakh from him for the favour, he added.

Rudolph paid Rs two lakh on the spot and another Rs eight lakh on September 1 at Sanjaynagar. But when the accused did not help him clear the exams, he demanded his money back.

Devaraj then asked Rudolph to meet his accomplice Sunanada Reddy, whom he described as the ‘Chief Examination Controller’. Reddy, in turn, asked him to pay another 15 lakh.

When Rudolph refused to pay up and insisted on getting his money back, Reddy threatened to debar him.

When Rudolph’s repeated attempts to get back his money, he lodged a complaint with Cubbon Park police.
