All-weather roads for Karnataka

Informing this in Lok Sabha in response to a question from G M Siddeshwara [BJP], Rural Development Minister C P Joshi said that under the PMGSY, the Ministry provides fund to states to construct all-weather road connectivity to all unconnected regions having population of above 500 persons in the plain areas and 250 persons in hilly areas. The ministry has so far released Rs 8135 crore to states, in which Rs 8169 crore has been spent.

Replaying to his another question, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Prithiviraj Chavan said that the Centre has rejected the request of the Karnataka Government to provide grant to construct a building to house State Information Commission office.

The Karnataka government had sought Rs 7.50 crore grant from the Centre for the construction of an office building of the Information Commission. The minister said as there was no provision to sanction fund from the Centre to build an office building for the Commission, the proposal had been rejected.
