HC endorses special court's observation on DVAC

A week after special court judge John Michael D’Cunha observed that DVAC, Tamil Nadu, has colluded with the accused in the disproportionate case against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha, the Karnataka High Court has now made a similar observation against it.

During the hearing of a petition by seven companies (Lex Properties, Meadow Agro farms and others), whose property has been attached in connection with the case, Justice Narayanaswamy said the prosecution  was trying to prolong the case.

“It appears that DVAC is favouring the accused. You have to file your objections, but so far you have not done so. This clearly shows that you are colluding with the accused. If this is the situation, you cannot render justice,” the court observed orally. The matter has been adjourned. The petitioners whose properties have been attached in the case had moved the High Court after the special court refused their request to release them.
