Newly-wed woman jumps into well, dies

 
Anasuyamma (20) of Madabahalli was married 6 months ago to Narayana Swamy of Nidagurki.  During marriage the grooms’ parents had asked for Rs25,000 as dowry.  After the marriage the husband and in-laws were constantly pestering her to get the money from her parents.

Anasuyamma had come to her parent’s house to ask for money. The leaders of the panchayath had even held a meeting to discuss the issue and Anasuyamma’s mother Chowdamma had assured that the money would be given after selling the land.

A dejected Anasuyamma jumped into the well and committed suicide. Chowdamma has lodged a case od dowry death at rural police station. A caes has been booked and investigatiosn are on.
