Security guard found dead in stormwater drain

A security guard was found dead in a stormwater drain located near Begum Mahal Junction in the Ulsoor police limits on Tuesday night.

The deceased is Sriramulu, 55, a native of Vellore, Tamil Nadu. He was residing in Mahadevapura along with his wife and children.

The incident may have occurred when he was returning home after duty in an inebriated state, the police said.

The incident came to light when a few passersby noticed the body in the open drain and informed the police who rushed to the spot around 1 am and recovered the body.

House burgled

Unidentified men made away with valuables after barging into a house in Nagenahalli Layout under Yelahanka New Town police limits on Tuesday night.

According to the police, the burglars made off with a gold chain weighing 80 gm and two sets of gold earrings.

On Tuesday evening, Hemavathi, owner of the house,  latched the main door and went to meet her brother who stayed close by.

When she returned at 11 pm, she found the main door open. Upon checking her bedroom, she found the cupboard open. She noticed a gold chain and two sets of earrings missing.

A case has been registered and investigation is on.

Woman robbed

Violet, 58, a resident of Victoria Layout, was robbed of her gold chain by two bike-borne men in Ashok Nagar on Wednesday morning.

She was returning home after offering prayers at the Sacred Heart Church around 6.30 am, when two unidentified men riding a bike snatched her gold chain worth Rs one lakh, and sped away.

She raised an alarm to alert passersby, but the miscreants were nowhere in sight.
A case has been registered in the Ashok Nagar police station.

Engineer robbed

Bahadur A E, 30, a software engineer, was robbed of his mobile phone and wallet by two men in Koramangala on Tuesday night. He was walking back home at 11.30 pm in Koramangala VI Block, when two unknown people astride a bike stopped him to hand over the valuables.

They took away the mobile phone, Rs 500 in cash along with a debit card.

They also threatened to stab him if he did not reveal the debit card PIN.

Bahadur disclosed the PIN and the miscreants withdrew Rs 52,000 cash by using the debit card from various ATMs across the City on the same night.

The police are examining the closed-circuit television camera footages and are looking  for clues to apprehend the culprits.
