Almost all students in State pass ICSE exam

 Karnataka has performed exceptionally well in the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Class X exam, the results of which was decalred on Wednesday.

The State registered an overall pass percentage of 99.83. A total of 10,975 students from 231 schools across the State appeared for the exam out of which 5,623 (51.23 per cent) were boys and 5,352 (48.77 per cent) were girls. Of them only 15 boys and four girls did not get through the examination.  This led the girls bettering the boys in the overall pass percentage with the former securing a pass percentage of 99.93 and the latter, 99.73 per cent.

The performance of students belonging to Special Category in the State was also good.
Of the total number of students as many as 365 belonged to the Scheduled Caste, 121 to the Scheduled Tribe and 1912 came from Other Backward Classes. Their pass percentage was respectively 99.18, 99.17 and 99.84 per cent.

The total pass percentage of students appearing in the examination remained 98.28 per cent.

Southern region had the best pass percentage, 99.59, followed by Western region 99.41 per cent. Southern region also had the highest percentage (49.20) of the girls passing the examination.

Altogether 1,49,087 students appeared for the examination from a total 1,841 schools affiliated to CISCE in the country. Of those who took the examination, them 55.58 per cent were boys while 44.42 per cent girls.

As many as 41 students suffering from dyslexia secured 90 per cent and 11 visually challenged passed the examination with 90 per cent marks.
