“We had a total failure in the last game in which nothing went right for us. Hopefully, we can come up with something better in the second game, especially in fielding and batting,” Dhoni said on Friday.

The Indians will miss the services of Rohit Sharma, who was ruled out of Saturday’s game with a shoulder injury. Ravindra Jadeja, who is part of the one-day team, has joined the squad here as back-up.

“Rohit came to the practice session today, and did some light exercises. But he is yet to be match fit, and we will watch him over the next few days. He is most likely to miss tomorrow’s match,” Dhoni said.

Paceman S Sreesanth, who has been suffering from viral fever, was admitted to a local hospital here. Dhoni said the Kerala pacer will be under observation and a decision on his further presence in the series will be taken later. The Jharkhand player hoped that the Indian fielding would touch better standards at Mohali. “We were never a brilliant side, but we have always been a safe catching side. But we dropped a few sitters in Nagpur, besides misfielding often. Hopefully, we will come up with a better effort here tomorrow,” he added.

Dhoni said the players were enjoying the presence of fielding consultant Mike Young and his novel training methods. “We have been enjoying the session with Young. He is a very different guy, he never tries to do a lot of things. He takes one thing at a time and it is easy to follow his methods. It’s been only a few days since he started his association with us, and he is getting into his groove,” he pointed out.

The captain also took heart from the fact that pacer Ishant Sharma seemed to be regaining his rhythm in Nagpur. “Ishant was in good rhythm and he also worked up good pace in the first match. Now that he might get some assistance in Mohali, we hope he will continue the good work.”
