NHAI breather for 9 highway projects

Last Updated 23 May 2014, 20:53 IST

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Friday decided to allow developers of nine highway projects to reschedule premium payments worth Rs 5,960 crore to the government after developers expressed their financial constraints to complete the projects.

“NHAI Board has approved 9 proposals for deferment of premium for a total value of Rs 5,959.93 crore. The period during which such deferment is considered spans the period 2014-15 till 2026-27,” an official statement said.

This was mainly aimed at reviving the projects which were stalled after developers were unable to continue the projects due to financial constraints. Projects permitted to be deferred include Tumkur-Chitradurga 6 lane, Hyderabad-Yadgiri 4 lane and Hosur-Krishnagiri 6 lane.
