NIA asks fishermen to search bombs in lake

Last Updated 25 May 2014, 20:41 IST

Even as the National Investigation Agency (NIA) engaged fishermen to search bombs which IM module Haider Ali said he had hidden in the Ranchi lake, his father Mohammad Alam wished Haider died a dog’s death.

Haider, the second-in-command of the terror outfit Indian Mujahideen (IM), was arrested a couple of days back for his involvement in the Patna serial blasts in October last during Narendra Modi’s rally.

Haider, along with other IM modules, had planned the Patna attack in a private hostel in Ranchi’s Hindpiri locality.

After his arrest, he reportedly told his NIA interrogators that he had hidden raw materials like gelatine sticks, boosters and explosive powder in the Ranchi lake, barely a kilometre from the hostel.

The NIA has now engaged two divers, who recently saved the lives of six persons during a boat mishap in Ranchi, to search raw materials used to make bombs.

“We have been informed by the NIA sleuths that the apprehended IM terrorist had hidden explosives in Ranchi lake, just a day before leaving for Patna from Ranchi in October last,” a source in Ranchi police said.

Meanwhile, Haider’s father Alam has wished ‘hell’ for his son. “Cut him into pieces and feed it to the dogs,” said the 70-year-old distraught Alam, who is partially impaired, but ekes out a living through his old profession – tailoring.
