Intellectuals seek Bellary ministers' ouster

They complained that Janardana Reddy, Karunakara Reddy and Sreeramulu were looting the natural resources and had lost moral right to continue in the Cabinet.

Writer K Marulasiddappa, speaking at a dharna held under the banner of Rammanohar Lohia Forum, on Sunday, said the three ministers from Bellary did not deserve the tag - mining lords. They should be referred to as thieves, engaged in looting the natural resources. Former minister and poet B T Lalitha Naik said Chief Minister Yeddyurappa should sack the three ministers immediately.

“If he could not do that better he himself steps down from his chair,” she said.  The protesters also demanded nationalisation of mining in the country so that no private agency is allowed to make profit by exporting iron ore from the state. Prof Chandrashekhar Patil, Prof S G Siddaramaiah, Prof N V Narasimhaiah, former MLC L Hanumanthaiah, writer Banjagere Jayaprakash and others attended the protest. The protesters will be submitting a memorandum to the Governor in this regard on Monday.
