A 19-year-old girl alleged that three of her neighbours attempted to gang rape her after kidnapping her from outside her house at south Delhi’s Fatehpur Beri on Wednesday.

In her complaint to police, the girl claimed that she fought with the accused to save herself.

She was also allegedly beaten up by the accused in the ensuing scuffle.

Police said on Thursday that they learnt about the incident after the girl approached Vasant Kunj police station along with her parents.

The girl told police that she wanted to lodge a complaint pertaining to abduction and gang rape attempt.

Her statement was recorded and the case was later referred to Fatehpur Beri police station.

The girl alleged that she was attacked when she went to fetch water from a tap near her house at around 8 pm on Wednesday.

She claimed that the three neighbours overpowered her and took her to a nearby forest area.

“The girl fought back with the men when they tried to rape her. She injured one of them after which they badly beat her up. But the girl continued to fight and managed to flee from the spot,” said a police officer.

The girl informed her parents about her ordeal on reaching home.

She claimed that while resisting the assault she hit the forehead of one of the accused with a stone.

The man began bleeding which forced the other two accused to divert their attention to him. She took advantage of the situation and fled the spot, she told police.

The girl and her parents approached police at around 9.30 pm after which she was admitted to AIIMS for treatment.

“A hunt is on to nab the culprits as they fled from their homes after the incident,” the officer added.

Police have refused to divulge the identity of the accused.
