Injured Yuvraj doubtful for first ODI

Last Updated 13 December 2009, 19:02 IST

Yuvraj, who consulted Dr Dinkar Virparia in the City on Sunday evening after he complained of pain on his left-hand, had suffered the injury while fielding in the second Twenty20 international against Lanka in Mohali on Saturday.

He was declared man of the match for grabbing three wickets and smashing an unbeaten 60 to power India to a six-wicket series leveling win. The southpaw was taken off from attack after bowling three overs, and Virat Kohli replaced him on the field in the 18th over.
Meanwhile, a team source said a final call on Yurvraj will be taken only on Monday. “The team management will give Yuvraj every possible chance to play in the first one-dayer at Rajkot. But we will take a final decision on him on Monday,” a team source said.
However, he added that if the injury is of serious nature then Yuvraj could miss action for at least three weeks.
