According to the police, the 30-year-old Malaysian woman was in Jaipur to set up a business project. She alleged that her business consultant, Punit Jain, first drugged her and then raped her in a car.
“The woman arrived here from Jodhpur on May 21 for a business trip. She wanted to set up a project so she was in touch with one Punit Jain, aged around 30. They were together for the last couple of days before she was raped,” said Amandeep Singh Kapoor, DCP East.
Before Jodhpur, the woman was in Bangalore in connection with her business, he added.The police said that before raping the woman, the accused and the victim dined at a plush five-star hotel. They even went on a long drive.
The woman alleged that Punit offered her a soft drink laced with some drug and raped her in the car on Thursday.
The complaint was registered at the Jawahar Circle police station, following which the accused was arrested on Friday. The car was also seized by the police. “A pistol was also recovered from the car.
The accused is in police custody and is being interrogated at the Jawahar Circle police station,” a senior official said. The official said that the police would conduct a probe to find out if drugs were used before the rape.
