The eighteenth annual convocation of the students of IFIM B-School took place on the college campus recently.

The PGDM students of the 2012-14 batches were awarded their post-graduate degrees by Dr KC Chakrabarty, former Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India, who presided over the gathering. The top performers of the batch were also bestowed with awards for excellence in various fields.

In his address to the student, KC Chakrabarty congratulated the students and said, “Leadership is what sets apart individuals from the rest. Such skills are valued in organisations as it requires inherent qualities that surface to align a team.” Following the award ceremony, the oath was also administered, followed by which the students, parents, dignitaries and faculty members stood up and sang the national anthem.

VB Padode, chairman of the college, spoke on the occasion. “This year has been one of the most satisfying years for the institute in terms of overall performance by the batch. We have had excellent results academically. IFIM has also witnessed some of the best companies in the country visiting us as recruiters and absorbing a sizeable portion of our students,” he said.

The hour-long convocation came to a close with a buzz of cheer and excitement as the students threw their hats up to celebrate the occasion.

Divya Elangovan, who received the ‘Best Girl Student’ award, said, “One’s graduation happens once in a lifetime and it was an amazing experience to meet everyone before we go our ways. It’s a really thrilling feeling in your tummy as you wait for your award to be announced and then walk up the stage and collect it with your parents watching.” She added that the course gave her a ‘complete package.

“I had been working for a while before I joined the college and I wanted a place to explore extra-curricular activities too. In IFIM, there was always a surprise element to what event would happen next.

I’d play sports everyday for a few hours and then go practise for some fashion show or song to be performed somewhere. Plus, the college sponsored my trip to Mumbai for the national-level management event at the ‘Dewang Mehta Competition’ for which I will always be grateful,” she elaborated.
