4 students held for theft

Four students of a reputed college were arrested by J P Nagar Police on charges of looting air rifles and adventure sports equipment worth Rs 3.67 lakh from a shop recently.

They visited Olive Planet that sold rifles and adventure sports equipment, to buy shoes.

The accused decided to loot the shop as they could not afford to buy the items on sale, police said.

They gained access into the shop by breaking the window grills and made away with items worth Rs 3.67 lakh, including four air rifles, a laptop, five vision watches, space pens, parasailing equipment, army water bottles, helmets and a special candle which burns for eight hours.

The J P Nagar Police arrested them while they were returning on their bikes with the booty.

When questioned, they confessed to the crime, the police said.

The shop is owned by a retired Army officer.
