Heavy rain lashes Mangalore, Udupi

With the monsoon intensifying across Dakshina Kannada district, heavy rains lashed parts of the coastal districts on Tuesday. 

The region has been receiving good rainfall since Monday night. In the last 24 hours, Moodbidri received a highest of 176.6 mm rain, Mangalore taluk — 107.2 mm,  Belthangady —  80.6 mm, Bantwal—75.4 mm, Kadaba—61 mm, Puttur—52.3 mm and Sullia—46 mm. 

Udupi

The district has received an average of 101.06 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. Karkala received a highest of 126.2 mm rainfall, followed by Udupi taluk —101.2 mm and Kundapur taluk — 75.8 mm. Vishalakshi Shedthi’s house in Keradi village in Kundapur taluk was partially damaged, when a coconut tree fell on the structure. A tree fell on NH 66, at Hemmadi in Kundapur and disrupted the movement of vehicles. Several telephone and electric wires have snapped in rural areas. 

Shimoga

Some parts of the district received moderate rains on Tuesday.  Thirthahalli and Hosanagar witnessed intermittent rain, while it rained uinterrupted in Sagar till afternoon.
