Schools violating RTE norm to lose recognition

Last Updated 25 June 2014, 20:09 IST

Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education Kimmane Ratnakar has said schools in Bangalore City which have been found violating the Right To Education Act would lose recognition. Notices have been served on such schools, he added.

Replying to a question by K Gopalaiah (JD-S) in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, the minister said the commissioner of public instructions had held a meeting with the representatives of school managements and had directed them to admit students under the RTE Act, 2009.

Schools which have not been given minority tag and also those who have not yet submitted application to the government seeking the tag, should be admitting students under the RTE Act. Those schools who refuse to admit students would be grossly violating the rule. Those schools which have approached court too have been asked to admit students. And, those who do not follow the norm would lose the recognition, he added.
