Bangalore University has decided to seek more clarification on the report of the inquiry committee headed by Prof M I Savadatti, former vice chancellor of Mangalore University, that probed the alleged irregularities against former BU Registrar (Evaluation) R K Somashekar.

“Savadatti’s report did not give specific instructions regarding concrete action on the matter as a result of which we will be seeking a clarification from the inquiry officer. We will send the report to the government once the clarification comes,” said B Thimmegowda, vice chancellor, BU. He was addressing the media here on Wednesday after a meeting of the Syndicate where the issue was discussed.

Gowda also said that he would give a reply to the State government’s letter asking for the reappointment of Somashekar as the registrar to either Bangalore University or Mysore University after due consideration of the inquiry report.

While granting approval for renewal of affiliation for 63  B Ed colleges in the meeting of the Syndicate, it also decided to appoint a committee to re-inspect two BEd colleges for which the local inquiry committees had not given a recommendation for renewal of affiliation.
