Following the success of Amma canteens, water and salt, the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) government in Tamil Nadu would open Amma Pharmacies from Thursday to provide medicines at subsidised prices.
In the first phase, ten Amma Pharmacies will be opened in seven districts. Chief Minister Jayalalitha would inaugurate them through video conferencing from the state Secretariat.
Official sources said Amma Pharmacies would be opened across the state in a phased manner, the same way Amma canteens have been opened and operated.
The government now ventures into selling medicines following the good reception for Amma Canteens, mineral water and salt among people.
