District-in-Charge Minister K Abhayachandra Jain has said that the government is always ready to serve Kannada land and would make honest attempt to implement the resolution passed by the Kannada Sahitya Parishat.

The government has the responsibility to ensure that Kannadigas are not met with injustice in Karnataka, he said.

He was speaking at the valedictory of Tarikere taluk 12th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana at Annapurna Bhavan in Tarikere town on Sunday.

In the presence of the Minister, Kannada Sahitya Parishat working committee passed a resolution including the effective implementation of Kannada in administration, implement the resolutions passed by the Parishat, timely distribution of fertiliser and seeds to farmers and observe the centenary celebration of Parishat as Kannada campaign.

Achievers in various fields, Dada Peer, Puttamallappa, Palaiah and Lakshmidevamma were confered with awards on the occasion.

Promoting Kannada

Delivering presidential address at the inaugural programme, Sammelana President Ananth Nadig said that Kannada can survive only when it becomes our lifestyle.

“The attitude of the people towards Kannada should change. The bad development of punishing children who speak in Kannada in English medium schools has to be stopped. Kannada should be spoken by a large number of people to survive.”

He felt the need for identifying litterateurs in Tarikere taluk and promoting them.

The taluk has conducive atmosphere for litterateurs which should be further enhanced.

Unfortunately, the politicians in Tarikere taluk lack the farsightedness that the politicians of neighbouring taluk have.

The political leaders should work towards the comprehensive development of the taluk, he said.
