Top Maoist leader's wife held for killing CRPF officer

Three days after  CRPF deputy commandant Harikant Jha was shot dead by Maoists on the Bihar-Jharkhand border near Jamui, the top officials camping at the site are verifying whether the officer was killed by Geeta Koda, wife of self-proclaimed Maoist zonal commander Siddhu Koda.

Geeta, a well-trained Maoist, was apprehended by the CRPF when she was allegedly changing her uniform to escape detection of her identity. She, along with 15 other Maoists, was named accused soon after Jha was shot dead.

Sources in the paramilitary force said that Jha got an alert from his counterpart in Giridih (Jharkhand) on Friday that Maoists had assembled on the Bihar-Jharkhand border and were planning a major attack. Jha, after cross-checking the input, planned a joint operation.

By then Geeta constituted a group of women and children, also called Bal Dasta (child brigade) and formed a shield before coming on the front. The security forces were at that time proceeding towards Bakhri village in Jamui district.
