'Assist police in checking crime'

“There has been a sharp increase in crime rate after the emergence of Bangalore as the IT hub. The public should assist the police in preventing crimes,” he said at a marathon run organised as part of crime prevention drive.

Drawing a parallel between prevention of crimes and prevention of diseases,  Alok Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) called upon people not to overlook instances of crime whenever and wherever they occurred. He emphasised the role of people in maintaining law and order.

Chandrashekhar, DCP (East) advised women walking alone to be watchful of chain snatchers impersonating as policemen. He also asked people to inform the police while leaving houses in order to prevent burglaries. Around 120 people attended the marathon run. Pamphlets containing tips for preventing crimes were distributed on the occasion.
