Budget airlines offer discounts for 3 days

Trying to tap more passengers during the lean season, three low-cost airlines on Tuesday announced a three-day discount sale with fares starting as low as Rs 1,699. The discount is for a period between August 18 and September 30. SpiceJet announced the discount sale with tickets starting from Rs 1,999 while IndiGo announced tickets from Rs 1,699 for select sectors.

“The sale is applicable for bookings made between July 15 and July 17 and for travel between August 18 and September 30,” a SpiceJet statement said. Sharat Dhall, President of travel portal Yatra, said the new sale is aimed at boosting travel during the lean period. “This is an excellent offer for someone who wants to take a quick break before the high fares of the festive season kick in,” he said.

“With popular destinations such as Goa, Guwahati, Port Blair, Dharamshala, Udaipur, Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi being served under these promotions, we expect travellers to make use of this limited-period offer,” Rajesh Magow, Co-founder and CEO-India of MakeMyTrip, said.
