In a bid to keep cash registers ringing even during the lean period, KSRTC is offering a 30 per cent discount to regular commuters.

This recently launched scheme, called ‘Prayanothsava,’ will give a fillip to online booking of bus tickets.

The scheme will alIlow commuters to avail the discount through e-booking, for their fourth journey with KSRTC. The offer will be valid till September 18 and tickets need to be booked in advance.

The Corporation is also offering a 10 per cent discount to other commuters for mid-week  travel, so as to beat the weekend rush. Those who travel between Tuesday and Thursday will get the rebate and the tickets have to be booked online in advance.

According to KSRTC officials, the scheme aims to encourage more and more people to use technology to book tickets. Even though this is a lean period, officials say that bookings have started to pick up due to upcoming holidays such as August 15 and the Ganesha festival.

In fact, officials say that online booking of tickets has picked up by almost 50 per cent.

Preferred destinations

Some of the preferred destinations include Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore, Goa, Hyderabad, Chennai and Uttara Kannada district, the officials said.

KSRTC has been offering such discounts for three seasons now to attract commuters to book tickets through internet as well as to reward those who regularly book tickets through the KSRTC website, said an official.
