Rahul attacks Modi govt for failing to check price rise

Last Updated 25 July 2014, 19:35 IST

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Friday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi government for “making tall promises but not delivering any of them”.

Rahul, who arrived in his Lok Sabha constituency of Amethi on a two-day visit, told reporters that skyrocketing prices of vegetables had been hurting the common people.

“The BJP had made tall promises before the polls...it had made price rise its main election plank but the government has miserably failed to check it,” he said. “People complained about high vegetable prices wherever I visited. There is a huge difference between what they said and what they are doing,” he further commented.

Rahul went to several villages on the first day of his visit and met the people and listened to their problems.

He said that though the Congress was no longer in power, yet he would continue to fight for Amethi.

“I will continue to fight for the development of Amethi even though my party is not in power,” he said. The Congress leader also visited Salon and took part in a Roza-Iftar party.
