Rastogi murder: Wife, suspect to undergo narcoanalysis

Strongly suspecting the wife’s involvement in the sensational murder of senior BPO manager Sourabh Rastogi, the HSR Layout police have decided to subject his wife Ankisha and Reshvin Chengappa, the suspected killer, to narcoanalysis.

The police have not given Ankisha a clean chit, though her involvement was ruled out during early investigation. Some questions have not been answered yet.

Chengappa had sent Ankisha a text message, ‘WD’, shortly after the crime. The police believe ‘WD’ stands for ‘Work Done’. Ankisha had replied to Chengappa’s message with a few question marks. The messages were, however, deleted shortly thereafter, the police said.

“We would have got crucial leads if we had access to those messages,” the HSR Layout inspector said. “We have decided to subject them to narcoanalysis at a forensic science laboratory in Gujarat to ascertain the truth as the messages are not available.”

Chengappa had told investigators that he was in a relationship with Ankisha. She told the police that he was a regular visitor to her flat, but she denied having any relationship.

Chengappa, who worked at Genpact where Rastogi and Ankisha were also employed, had a liking for Ankisha and allegedly murdered him so that he can marry her later.

He had been planning to kill Rastogi for a long time, but decided to act when he learnt that Ankisha and Rastogi would leave for the US on June 27.

Ankisha worked as MBA lecturer and joined Genpact after marriage. Chengappa had enrolled in a correspondence course for MBA. He would often ask Ankisha to help him in his studies. In the process, he fell for her, said the police.

Chengappa, who did his schooling in Chandigarh, had moved to Bangalore with his parents about 15 years ago.

The family lived in Koramangala. His father, a native of Kodagu, is said to be an ex-serviceman, the police added.
