Former Cabinet Secretary Zafar Saifullah died of cardiac arrest in New Delhi on Friday evening. He is survived by wife, two sons and two daughters. He was 78.
A Karnataka cadre officer, Saifullah was the Cabinet Secretary during P V Narasimha Rao tenure as the prime minister. His last rites will be performed in Mumbai on Saturday, according to family sources.
He had held several key positions in the state. He had piloted introduction and operation of Karnataka Panchayat Raj System.
