Rajesh hails from Godavari District and is a student of ZPH School, Chebrolu.
Goutham, who received the award from his idol Vishwananthan Anand, said the meeting with his idol will help him to draw inspiration to scale greater heights.

“It was a dream come true for me to recieve the trophy from my idol. I cherish every moment with him today. The meeting with Anand will give me lot of confidence to conquer greater heights in chess, said Goutham, who also won the Zonal title last year in Chennai and ended the National final in the fifth spot.

Goutham and Rajesh will represent South Zone in the National final to be held in Gandhinagar on December 24. The winners there will also get an opportunity to play with  Anand.

Congratulating the winners, Goutham and Rajesh, Anand said, “It is heartening to note that youngsters and kids are taking up chess enthusiastically and mastering the strategies of the game. I congratulate both the winners and wish them a bright future.”

“I am confident that the grit and determination that these young children have displayed will help them excel in academics as well.  Technology has also played a key role in reaching out to children in every corner of the country for introducing them to chess,” the World champion added.
