'Congress will not topple BJP govt'

Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, Union Minister Veerappa Moily said the BJP’s image has nosedived in the eyes of the people. The party is weak at the State and national-level. The dissidence in the party is sufficient to bring down the ruling party. And, there is no need for the Congress to intervene.

The Congress has the capacity to come back to power on its own in the next elections, he argued. At a press conference, Congress leader Siddaramaiah too said his party has neither attempted to dethrone BJP government nor will it do in the future. However, the BJP should not blame the Congress if its Government falls because of its internal bickerings.

Siddaramaiah, on Saturday, held a meeting with senior leaders of the party, regarding recent developments in the political circles. He refused to comment on JD(S) leaders H D Kumaraswamy and Deve Gowda’s statements that they would not have problems to appoint Siddaramaiah as chief minister of the Congress-JD(S) combine.
