Last Updated 04 August 2014, 20:41 IST

To ensure the safety of girl students, the City police will direct all the schools and colleges for girls/women to instal CCTV cameras at the entry and exit gates.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Alok Kumar on Monday said, “The CCTV cameras will be made mandatory for schools and colleges where the strength of girls is high. This will help in gathering information, if any untoward incident takes place there. It will also make rounding up miscreants or eve-teasers easy.”

The managements of schools and colleges will be notified in this regard shortly, he said, adding that the step had been taken keeping in mind the safety of students.

Another senior police officer said that since Saturday around 800 people had been rounded up for eve-teasing in different parts of the City.

The jurisdictional police have been directed to make regular rounds near colleges and open rowdy-sheets against those found involved in repeated offences of eve-teasing, he said.
