On Day One of the Utsav to be held at APS College Grounds in Basavanagudi, saxophone maestro Kadri Gopalnath will perform.

“This year’s event will see performances from singers Vishal-Shekar, Bombay Jayashri, S P Balasubrahmanyam, Pankaj Udhas, and Sunidhi Chauhan,” said Nandish. There would be performances from Raghu Dixit and Vijay Prakash on September 7. Audience will also get a humour treat with Master Hirannaiah, Dayanand and Prof Krishne Gowda performing on stage.

In addition to the Ganesha idol, a thematic temple of Beluru-Halebidu as the backdrop will be among the primary attractions of the Utsav. Eight other idols in addition to the main one will be in place.

The Ustav will be a plastic-free zone. Cooks from across Karnataka will present delicacies of different kinds at the ‘Aromas of Karnataka’ food counter.

Balasubrahmanyam, recalling his earlier times, said: “I miss all the fun we had while the troupe had to perform with the orchestra.

These days, it is missing. Even at the time of recording, I am caught unawares about who will sing the female bit in the duet song.”

Stating that things were “plastic” and “Robotic,” he said: “Those days, bad songs were less in number and good songs were more. These days, bad songs are more in number compared to the good.”
