Oral history workshop

Sutradhar invites social science and language teachers to an Oral History workshop led by Dr Indira Chowdhury of the Centre for Public History, Bangalore. Conventionally, historians have reconstructed the past using photos, records and newspapers. Oral History involves gathering people’s stories, interpreting them, and comparing them to written material to draw a more nuanced picture of the past.

It is a powerful tool that makes history come alive, as students connect the past with the present in a meaningful way. These stories can be shared through walks, booklets, wall papers, performances or documentaries. The workshop will be held on September 13, 2014. To register, email sutradharblr@gmail.com or call 25215191 or 25288545.
