Speaking at a symposium, ‘Countering Imperialism,’ held part of the concluding programme of the all-India campaign of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) group against imperialism, Belgami Mohammed Saad, City unit President, JIH, opposed the Delhi High Court order on legalising homosexuality condemning it as an adverse effect of the Western influence.

“Even though the Western countries might be technologically and scientifically advanced, the problem lies in their fundamental attitude to disregard God,” he added.

All India Christian Council secretary general John Dayal called for radical measures to improve the situation of the minorities in the country.

Katyayani Chamraj, from CIVIC, an NGO said, “LPG” (Liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation) is a euphemism for imperialism that the West uses to plunder the Eastern and Southern countries.

Shivarudra Mahaswami of Belimatha urged the public to sacrifice luxurious lifestyle and adopt an ascetic way of living to minimise their dependence on  capitalist goods. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, a movement working to establish peace in India, has been carrying out a national-level campaign against Western imperialism.
