Refusal to part with bike cost him life

Ashok, son of a garment contractor Thimmaiah and residing at Sharavathinagar in Peenya was returning on a motorbike along with his friend Nagaraj after playing a cricket match.

Four persons, one of them identified as Punith, intercepted them near Ganesha temple at about 6 in the evening.

They asked Ashok, who was riding pillion, to give the bike for a ride. As he refused to concede, they followed and stabbed him on chest several times before fleeing.

Declared dead

Ashok was immediately taken to Ravi Kirloskar Hospital where he was declared dead. His friends, however, staged a demonstration in front of the hospital blaming doctors' negligence for Ashok's death. Window panes were damaged as they resorted to stone throwing.

The police, upon receiving intimation  from the hospital rushed to the spot and dispersed the demonstrators. The body was  later shifted to M S Ramaiah  Hospital.

Ashok was working with a firm in Basaveshwarnagar and did not have any criminal record, the police said.

 They suspect old rivalry to be the motive behind his murder. RMC Yard police have registered a case.


A person who allegedly attempted to steal a cow received blows from alert  public.  Prakash was thrashed black and blue before being handed over to police on Sunday.
The incident occurred on ‘A’ Main Road in Koramangala 17th Block when Prakash of the same area tried to runaway with a cow tethered in front of a house.

A few people spotted Prakash, caught him and gave him a good thrashing. Later, they put a garland of slippers on his neck, took him in a procession and handed him over to the police.

Prakash and his friend Kumar tried to steal a cow owned by one Girish.

However, Prakash claimed that he did not steal the cow, but wanted to set it free as many people in the area tie the cows in front of their houses creating problems to passersby, added the police.
