A 25-year-old youth abducted a BCom student and raped her for five days, according to a complaint lodged with the Talaghattapura police on Thursday.

Based on the complaint, the police arrested Harish Kumar, a resident of Wajarahalli on Kanakapura Road on the outskirts of the City. He is said to be an acquaintance of the victim.

“The police booked Harish under Section 376 of the IPC and POCSO Act,” Ramanagar SP Anupam Agarwal said.

The victim is 17 years old and a resident of Doddakallasandra in Talaghattapura. She is a first year BCom student of a private college in Raghuvanahalli. Harish went to the college on August 2 and claimed that her father had met with an accident, sustained massive injuries and was being treated at the ICU in a private hospital. He said that he would take her to the hospital and later abducted her, police said.

He took her to his house on Kanakapura Road and raped her for two days. Later, he took her to another house and raped her. He abandoned her on Talaghattapura Road on Wednesday evening. The victim reached home and informed her parents about the incident. They lodged a complaint on Thursday, police said.

“We need to ascertain Harish’s background and the nature of relationship that existed between Harish and the victim before the abduction and rape,” a police officer said.
