Dasara film fest: Mobile screens across city sought

Mobile screens to exhibit films in various localities in the city, screening of patriotic movies, films highlighting the significance of deep rooted traditions, exhibition and sale of compact discs (CDs) and books related to films.


These were among the several suggestions that came up during a programme organised to elicit the opinions of cine lovers for the forthcoming Dasara Film Festival.

At the programme held at the office of Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations here on Tuesday, a majority of the audience voiced that the programmes through Dasara, should set the stage for International Film Festival in future. There were suggestions that workshops and seminars be included during the festival.

Rajesh, a local said that it was essential to screen films at localities with the help of mobile screens, at prominent junctions. In addition to this, tribals from H D Kote and Periyapatna taluks too should be given an opportunity to see the films.

Student’s participation

Film exhibitor and distributor H R Honnappa stressed on giving priority for the professional artists during the film fest. Secretary of Mysore Film Society Manu said that journalism students should be involved, by giving them an opportunity to organise film related seminars on their own. Students should also be deputed at those theatres where films are screened as part of the fest, to give a preview of the film to the audience, he said.

The other opinions included, seeking the advise of senior citizens who have been a regular to the fest, bringing out a brochure on the history of the fest, and also the personalities who will be identified for the felicitation.

Deputy Director for Information and Public Relations A R Prakash who is also the working president of Dasara Film Sub-Committee said that like previous years, select films will be screened at theatres too. During the previous year, ticket fare for balcony was fixed at Rs 10 and at multiplexes at Rs 20. A LCD screen was also erected at J K Grounds, while there were screening at Senate Bhavan and Rani Bahadur Auditoria.
