Military truck rams auto; elderly passenger killed

 A 55-year-old man was killed when a military truck rammed the auto-rickshaw he was travelling by near TV Tower in JC Nagar on Tuesday morning.

The victim, Jayaseelan, a native of Madurai in Tamil Nadu, had arrived in the City at 6 am, along with his wife Sagaya Rosy to visit their daughter who resides in Mattadahalli near RT Nagar.

The couple boarded an auto-rickshaw at the Cantonment railway station to reach her house.

En route, near TV Tower, a speeding military truck attached to ASC Centre, used as a school bus, rammed the auto-rickshaw.

The collision resulted in Jayaseelan’s death on the spot, while his wife and the auto-rickshaw driver suffered injuries. Passersby took them to a nearby hospital where Jayaseelan was declared brought dead.

Rosy and the auto-rickshaw driver were treated for their injuries. The RT Nagar police have seized the truck and arrested the driver, Rajashekar.

Lorry hits bike; 2 killed

Two people were killed in an accident on Kommaghatta Main Road, under the Kengeri traffic police limits, on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased Shankarmurthy, 56, a tailor from Kommaghatta, was riding a motorcycle when a speeding lorry rammed it,  killing him
instantaneously.

Subsequently, the lorry driver, Umashankar, 62, a resident of Chikkabidarukallu, rammed a tree and was killed. Umashankar, after hitting the two-wheeler, tried to control the vehicle but it crashed into a tree.

Shankarmurthy was on his way to Kengeri to purchase clothes while the lorry was coming from Tumkur, the police said.

Student killed


A 19-year-old student was killed while his friend, the pillion rider, suffered injuries after their bike crashed into a wall near Jalahalli in the early hours of Tuesday.

The deceased Gaurav Goyal, 19, a native of Delhi, was staying at a paying guest accommodation in Soladevanahalli.

On Monday night, Goyal, a student at a private college, was returning home with his friend Tamal, 20, after a party. Goyal lost control of the bike and crashed it into a wall near Acharya College, Jalahalli, at 1 am. He died on the spot while his friend who suffered injuries was shifted to a nearby hospital, the police said.
