Leading an harmonious, just life is Dharma: Seer

Emphasising on extending the inherent qualities of human beings, Swami Shankara Bharati, the seer of Yoganandeeshwara Saraswathi Mutt, said Dharma is about leading a harmonious and just life. Those who follow these basic human values will lead a happy life, said the seer.

Delivering a discourse during the Vardhanti celebration on the completion of his Chaturmasa in Bangalore on Thursday, the seer, headquartered in K R Nagar in Mysore district, stressed that remaining a mute spectator to injustice, criminalities and
illegalities in the society is also against Dharma.

“Dharma is a very minute and sensitive term to define. To explain it in brief, Dharma is all about leading a harmonious life with others and not to cheat others. It is also about opposing the wrong things happening around in a justified way,” said the Swami, citing instances from Mahabharata.

Speaking on the occasion, senior advocate S S Nagananda explained the significance of leading a pious life under the tutelage of a Guru.

“A Guru’s significance is in making the disciple realise that the body is an abode of God. Those who realise the divine being dwelling inside turn their body into a temple. The import of bowing before an enlightened being is worshiping the body temple, where the Supreme Being is placed on  high altar,” said Nagananda.

K N Tilak Kumar, editor of Deccan Herald, who was the chief guest, released the book ‘Prakarana Chathush Adhyaya,’ comprising Tatvopadesha and Sadachara Anusandhana Grantha. Earlier in the day, Shri Chakra Pooja and Shatha Chandi Homa were performed. Some eminent scholars in Veda and Vedanta were felicitated.
