Speeding car topples, five Sudanese students hurt

Five Sudanese students were injured when their car toppled on the way to the Kempegowda International Airport near Yelahanka on Friday.

According to the police, of the students travelling in the car, Mahiz Omer, 21, and Esra, 21, are critical. The other three—Reni Mohammed Ahmed, 23, Mazdsalah, 21, and Habin Barkel, 24—escaped with minor injuries and were discharged after first aid. All of them are residents of Kammanahalli.

A police officer said that Omer, who was at the wheel, was speeding when he lost control over the car which then toppled. A passerby pulled the injured students out of the car and rushed them to a hospital.

The police rushed to the spot after being alerted. They seized the car, registered a case and further investigation is in progress. “All of them are Sudanese nationals, studying in different colleges here. The incident occurred when they were dropping their friend Ahmed at the airport,” he said.
