Man, daughter killed as bike rear-ends tipper lorry

A man and his six-year-old daughter were killed while his wife and another daughter were seriously injured when their motorcycle met with an accident near the Kogilu flyover under the Yelahanka traffic police limits on Friday.

Chowdappa, 32, a labourer from Kamakshipalya, was riding along with his family to visit relatives in Devanahalli when he failed to spot a tipper lorry ahead and crashed his motorcycle into it from behind. The crash occurred around 11 am, the police said.

The collision was so severe that Chowdappa died instantly while his wife Savitha, 28, and daughters, Meghana, 10, and Ananya, 6 suffered serious injuries. They were taken to a nearby hospital but Ananya succumbed to injuries while Savitha and Meghana are said to be critical, the police added.

The police seized the tipper lorry but its driver fled. Police have registered a case and are tracing the driver.

Homemaker ends life

A 37-year-old homemaker committed suicide by hanging herself at her flat in Tata Nagar under the Kodigehalli police limits on Friday when her husband and two children were away  at school to attend Independence Day celebrations.

Neetu Bai, married to one Prakash Singh, a businessman, was hanging from the ceiling in her bedroom by the time her husband and children returned home. The family told the police that Bai might have been driven to suicide by the severe back pain she had.
