Three new American channels launched in India

Expanding its foothold in India, Discovery Networks has launched three new channels across the country, one of which is tailor-made to capture the Hindi entertainment space with real-life stories on criminal investigations.

Investigation Discovery – one of the most popular channels in America – is currently available on digital and analogue networks on Hathway, Siti Cable and Dish TV. The other two new channels – TLC HD World and Animal Planet HD World – are available on Dish TV.

Officials said that all these channels will “soon” be made available on all distribution platforms.The Investigation Discovery channel has several popular series based on real-life stories and true events. In the series “Disappeared”, viewers can learn about missing person cases with investigations that aim at deciphering the reasons and motives behind disappearances.

“Who The (Bleep) Did I Marry?” is another entertaining series on Investigation Discovery about married couples. This show is a documentary series on people finding out about their spouse’s shocking crime-related secrets. “Blood Relatives” is a show about the investigation of homespun murder mysteries wherein everyone is a suspect and every suspect shares a last name.

According to Rahul Johri, executive vice-president and general manager of South Asia – Discovery Communications India, series featured on these channels will bring constant intrigue to viewers.

“The channel promises to always reveal intriguing twists and turns that culminate into thrilling conclusions. Providing fascinating stories of human nature, the channel’s alluring series, in-depth specials and thought-provoking one-offs will challenge viewers’ perceptions and expand the Hindi entertainment genre,” Johri said.
